Working: Sue Carson has quite a CV! Not only was she riding and competing ponies from the age of four, her family had owned a saddlery and she gained her first work experience helping out in the shop. It was not long into her own career that she decided to combine all of this experience and join the industry herself producing top level working hunter ponies. Sue suffered from a repetitive back injury and could not find a saddle to appropriately support her so she decided to design one herself. This rapidly turned into recognition of the need for good quality saddles that provided both the horse and rider with comfort without compromising performance. Her designs were so innovative and beneficial that in 1990 Sue Carson Saddles was born.
Training: Sue is a list 2 Dressage Judge (judging to PSG), an FEI Horse Trials Judge, most recently judging Belton 3* and Ballindenisk 3*, and a member of the Ponies UK Judging Panel. She was also the youngest BSPS Judge put on the panel. As a BHSAI Sue also regularly imparts her knowledge and experience through the training of others and commits to regular top level training herself. This experience enables Sue to relate to riders across the disciplines and at all levels, from young Pony Club rides, to non competing adults, aspiring competitive amateurs and Advanced medium dressage and 4* eventers.
Competing: Sue first jumped on a horse at the age of four and began competing soon after. By the age of 12 she was annually representing Meynell Pony Club in the champs at Eventing, Show Jumping and Dressage, and was awarded one of the two annual National Pony Club Scholarships. She now competes internationally at Prix St George and Intermediaire I level at Dressage to music and, in the past, has evented to intermediate level and show jumped to Grade C. Her most recent events include the British Dresssage Championships, Hickstead Pas de Deux Championship and the 2006 Pet Plan Prix St George Championship.
